I was just looking up some international stats and saw that caught my eye: Female Prisoners; by country. POLL If you had to get thrown in a women's prison, what country and why? Mine - Probably France...just to hear women talk tough in French!

the thought of being in prison terrifies me. The thing I value most is the right to control my own life. I would hate having someone tell me where to be, what to wear, what to eat, where and when to sleep. Obviously I'd want to avoid the countries where their prisons are being investigated by Amnesty International. I honestly can't think past the horror of being imprisoned to think about what country I'd prefer to live in that horror. I think definitely some place that speaks english, because having a language barrier would be more awful thing on top of everything. This is why I don't shoplift.

I'm with FD on this one Prison terrifies me. Scratchy sheets, bad polyester uniforms, lots of cube steak, peas and oh yeah - absolutely no ability to make any choices of one's own free will. Nothing sexy about it.

I have such an unholy interest in women's prison. I think I'd like to go to in the US, possibly wherever SFers are sent. Tho my ex always said I'd ly be traded for a pack of smokes amongst the "mannish women".

No work,paid health care, free gym, library.. sometimes I think it sounds awfully nice. However, people I know who've actually seen the inside of the joint tell me I'm romanticizing it quite a bit. The lack of privacy is apparently the worst part, and I do like my privacy. Maybe I could shiv someone and get solitary?

Except for political activism I'd not ever want to see the inside of any prison. Very scary. I'm not even sure I'm loyal enough to my convictions to face a prison term in defsense of them but that'd be the only thing that would cause me to do anything that might land me in prison. And I pray I never have to defend my life by taking another because I'd do that too and that'd land me in prison. As to country, definitly a US prison. I'm a US citizen, why would I want to be imprisoned anywhere else? For the most part they hate Americans out there (thank you Dubya). Oooh, shudder to think - Return to Paradise, Midnight Express...

definitely sweden.of the places with a better human rights record than the u.s: seems like they'd be more about forgiveness and rehab than making sure the rest of your life was hell. and most of the people speak english, though i'm not sure if that's true of the inmate population.
