Gay pride Tattoos I am getting a very gay tattoo next week and while I really want the tattoo, I don't know how I feel about wearing my pride on my ankle for the rest of my life. Don't take it the wrong way, I am not ashamed of my gayness or of tattoos. Maybe just having cold feet about the whole thing. I also thought this out for about two months (made the apointment in december) so it isn't that either. This will be my xrd tat. so I am not an ink virgin either. I just want thoughts comments etc. Do you have a pride tat? Know someone who does? Think they are awful and cheesey? Etc. P.S. I like tos, I have tos but Im not sure I would get a pride to. To each their own though. Tos are forever unless you go through the pain and expense of removal.. and really, removal is only partial. If you have feelings of uncertainty, wait.

I havepcs of ink. ...one is a Tigger with my X's name. I know, I know....NO names, but I did it anyways! (I got this ink after x months with her, because if that is ALL it lasted, it was the best x months of my life!) After the break up, I added myboys' names. On the other arm, I added a small lawn mower....in fact, we have matching. Because....are you ready....Each day, I loved her a "little mower". NOW...how cheesy IS that?!!! so, I say, DO IT. Make sure what you do is personal, and something you can live with for the rest of your life. I view my ink as a "postcard" of my life. No regrets.

I am getting a very gay Tat on friday actually. It is very rainbow however it has words under it, and I am getting it cuz I think tats are postmarks of your life as well. TheI have already I got during ayear relationship and the ex hasto match. I figure since I just came out to my mother I might as well go be super gay. i have many visible tats and going to start a sleeve, and my job "frowns" on visible ones, but there are different clothing choices you could make...i love them too much. i agree with JR about the "postcard" comment. since the art is my own, it holds special meaning to me. and they're not the pictures off the walls in the shops, like every other schmo has, too. i say, since they are permanent, make it personal--in some way, whether you draw the piece yourself, or thought long and hard about it.

when it has personal meaning, I think you have less of a chance of future regret. Hell, I don't regret I have my X's name on my arm. I can't speak for any future partners...they may feel different.

coldfeet After I get a tattoo I go through something I "tattoo remorse". I freak out for a couple of days and then I really like my tattoo. It's a stress reaction caused by making a permanent change in/on my body. I've noticed this as a pattern with myself. Have you gotten coldfeet with your previous tattoos, or is this a phenomenon unique to the pride tattoo? Could just be pre-tattoo jitters, or the homosexual nature of the tattoo might be making you feel vulnerable; it is after all a permanent external indicator of your sexuality (bullseye). That isn't fair to say Not all of us work in professions where tattoos are acceptable right now. I would be sleeved if I could get a job like that. :( Instead I need to settle for smaller tats in very easy to hide places.

My tattoo grouping is probably the size of myopen hands. Noknows it's there unless I choose to tell them. You can have sizable tat's and a mainstream job.

I'm glad you said that. I know this thread is over but, I freaked out fromof my tattoos and I thought I was crazy. And that maybe I shouldn't get them anymore, or that I got the wrong thing. It was so unexpected for me but I also hadn't gotten a tatto in about x years. Then I got anotherlater and didn't feel that way at all. Anyway, it's nice to hear that I am not the onlywho felt that way.

I have a great big upside down triangle worked into a huge multi color tribal going right across my chest. It's pretty, rainbow-and being lasered off!

I have thought about tats but I donate blood regularly, and do not want to take a whole year off donations. I like the temporary ones for fun occasionally.

i have many tattoos and they are all of my own artwork--i like to have a part in the process. i am also into pain.. :) it hurts more depending on the area you want it. i currently have x tattoos and starting a sleeve on my right arm. my advice to you would be to just think constructively about it. it definitely MUST be something you're willing to have the rest of your life--don't want to pay the thousands to get it removed, do you? everyone has crazy shit tattooed on them--just look at any tattoo mags--sometimes i have to wonder why--but it's not my body or my preference. i choose to display MY art on MY body, so you'll probably never see a skull or bloody stuff tattooed on me. this sleeve has been a x year process--sketching, thinking, finding a competent, TALENTED artist--because it's going to be on your body forever, i would pay extra for quality. good luck with your discovery, whatever you choose!
